You've been visiting our home now for the past two years and it's popularity has grown enormously so it only felt right to let you know a little bit about us and who we are...

Red Sky at Night has been a pop up campsite for the last couple of years but it's been home for over 150 years to The Williams Family, with Farmer Ben being the 6th generation. They have dabbled in most farm related things, from dairy to beef and have always kept sheep but it wasn't until I (Chloe) came along that the ideas of going slightly off farming came about... And it's taken a good few years to convince everyone that camping would be a good idea!

If we have already met on camp then you'll likely have already heard about how Ben took some convincing because he just couldn't see this place for just how amazing it is. Don't get me wrong, he is aware fully that he lives in a beautiful place and always reminds himself of how lucky he is - he just didn't think that anyone would want to pay money to camp in his sheep field! It is an odd concept if you think of it that way I suppose...

BUT lo and behold here we are a two years down the line and I think it is safe to say that Ben is kicking himself slightly that this wasn't done years ago... He will never admit that though!

Together, Ben and I make a hell of a team. Ben is the quiet, laidback, lets-think-this-over type while I am definitely the loud idea's woman with a stop-thinking-and-just-do attitude to life - we usually counterbalance one another and most of the time live in harmony. We have a strong bond and work together really well for a married couple, with limited fall outs across farm and camp alike!

When we aren't farming or campsite running we enjoy a simple life of raising our beautiful boys, visiting new places, growing our own fruit & veg... And that's not all we have been growing this year... If you visited us in summer of 23 you'll have noticed I was growing my own little something... We are over the moon to announce that our little Chester was born at the end of the season and is very much looking forward to helping Mummy run the campsite!

Chester is our our third little man and along with his big brothers, Hugo and Teddy, they keep me busy - Life is pretty hectic but I would have it no other way!

The farm itself is around 300 acres and we rent another 300 acres(ish) that's dotted around all over the place. It's safe to say that it keeps Farmer Ben and his father rather busy all year round, with myself & our boys getting stuck in for the big jobs such as lambing, scanning, shearing, TB testing and helping to move the animals around when needed.

Along with Farmers' Ben & Peter there a few sheep dogs that help to get the work done and we feel we must mention them as everyone loves to hear about the working dogs, and they a huge part of the team! Each farmer has a dog of his own with Peter's loyal companion being Billy, and Ben's being Dougie. They are brothers and are now six years old. They make a good team as one is better with sheep and the other with cattle... Much like their owners as Ben is very much a cow man and his Dad prefers the sheep! We also have a sheepdog in training... Aussie will be One in April and has spent his first year getting to grips with farm life - he is showing great potential!

If you are lucky whilst you're here you may get to see the dogs in action! Camp is the perfect place to watch from as it looks across almost the whole farm, so it's very likely that if the sheep or cattle are being moved you'll see them! You might also hear them though, the famers I mean, and for that I will apologise now - sometimes (most of the time) things don't go to plan and you may hear the odd choice word echo across the valley... Eek!

Baby Aussie

We feel very blessed to live where we do. To open the curtains each morning to such a beautiful view, in a stunning part of Wales, with all of this fresh air and freedom makes us feel very grateful, and to be able to share a slice of it with you so that you too can feel its amazingness is just, well, it's just the toasted marshmallow on the skewer!
