Skenfrith is a stunning little village just 2 miles from us and many of our campers hike or cycle to see its beauty (there are parking spaces if that sounds too exhausting!).

Here you'll find Skenfrith Castle. It's owned by the National Trust but this little gem you can enjoy for free and it's also one of the 5 Dark Sky Discovery Sites here in Monmouthshire for any avid stargazers.

The village itself is definitely worth a visit, especially on boiling hot days. Hundreds come from near and far to enjoy a spot of wild swimming in the river and it's perfect for families too who'll set up day camp on the river bank and spend all day paddling in the shallows and swimming in the deeper parts of the river whilst they BBQ & picnic to their hearts content!

You really can lose a day here!

On the other side of the road is a great walk (especially for the doggos ) that runs along side the river and where you'll find many more spots for riverside picnics and places to take a dip.

I believe there is a shop that runs from the village hall but I would advise visitors go equipped with everything you'll need for a fab day out.

You'll also find The award winning Bell at Skenfrith for delicious meals but you do need to book in advance and it isn't always open.

Great for families/couples/wild swimmers/stargazers/history buffs.
